Universal Studios has shared new details about its planned UK theme park – and it’s aiming sky high, literally! According to the BBC, the Bedfordshire resort could include rides up to 377ft tall – potentially the tallest in Europe. That’s taller than Thorpe Park’s Hyperia or even Spain’s Red Force!
In planning documents, Universal said it wants to go big to stay competitive: “Taller attractions are more common in Europe… [they] make the best use of land.” Sounds like we’re in for some jaw-dropping thrills!
The resort, which hopes to welcome 8.5 million visitors a year, will feature adrenaline-pumping coasters, spectacular shows, immersive worlds, and a grand entry plaza with restaurants, shops and entertainment that don’t require a ticket. Think creature encounters, hero battles, and plenty of photo ops.
There are also plans for over 7,000 car parking spaces, new train links, cycling routes, and at least 500 on-site hotel rooms. Universal is hoping to open the gates by 2031.
The BBC said Universal is encouraging public feedback before 31 August.
